Western Diamondback

Like the Red Diamond Back this snake can grow to be a giant, reaching up to 6 feet in length and 4 to 5 inches in diameter. Overall, it is a brownish-colored snake, with lighter undersides. This Diamondback also has the wide light and dark tail bands mentioned earlier on the Red Diamondback Rattler. It is found in arid and semi-arid regions, particularly in the brushy areas of our foothills. Although its venom is said not to be as toxic as other rattlesnakes, its size allows it to inject a large doze of poison. It will be aggressive if it feels threatened or cornered. An adult Diamondback that feels threatened can deliver a lethal doze of poison in the blink of an eye.
